Dear you

Dear You,

You, yes you. We’ve had a really challenging few weeks. I didn’t want to mention the challenging time but it’s unavoidable and I didn’t want you to think I was ignoring it. So today I wanted to tell you how fabulous you are, how resilient, how you have done amazing things in the face of adversity. We have had to adapt to a new normal, understand a larger political issue, compare our country with others and even cope with people in our immediate society putting others at risk. This is a lot to deal with for any one person and yet, here you are, reading this and powering through.

What have you done this week, what have you achieved? Have you managed to get dressed some days? Have you managed to make yourself breakfast? Have you children and made it to the end of a very busy week? Have you managed to find some kind of routine at least once this week? Think of the smallest things you have achieved…you are doing amazingly. You are coping oh so well and you should be proud.

For managing the news and keeping on going, here’s a hug from me. I am physically holding you in a cuddle for a couple of seconds to let you know that I know it has been a difficult time and that you are doing everything and more.

Everyone keeps saying, we will get through this, well of course- that doesn’t even need to be verbalised. We will get through it but some won’t and it’s this that hurts the most right? The thought that for some this really is that horrific. For their friends and their families. I know this is hard to wrap our heads around and in order to cope with this, all we can do is keep following guidelines and keep in touch with our loved ones. Knowing we are doing all we can for those who we care about at this time will bring us all peace.

I want you to know that my inbox and DMs are open, that I try to strike a balance between serious chat and enjoying a laugh. That’s just how I am day to day. From dealing with actual real life (adulting if you will) to enjoying the joys around me. Whether that is from ridiculous, I definitely should not be laughing at these gifs, to programmes or films on the TV, to laughing with those around me.

Thanks for being here, thanks for listening, thanks for being you. Keep doing all the amazing things you are doing (being present in the day counts).

Lots of Love

Naomi x
