£200 bathroom makeover

Hey babes! I am so pleased to be able to share my bathroom makeover. I spent hour pinning and researching and could never have imagined I would have turned my bathroom into something I actually enjoy being in.

We moved into the house 6 years ago and haven’t touched it since I sent the roller around in modern F and B back in the day when I had actual money to waste on F and B. Now it’s a different story.

It cost us under 200 pounds as we actually used some money left over from selling a pushchair and we sold some crates and a mirror for £50 altogether. The biggest cost came from paying for the guy to do the tiling and the shower as well as the grout paint. If you can change a tap and tile then this could be cheaper than chips.

We don’t have marriage counselling but we certainly invest in areas we feel that may save our marriage and this is in the form of hiring handymen who so far have been shockingly shit but we struck gold with this guy. He was efficient and actually genuinely lovely. He had a wonderful attention to detail and he even fitted the shower after the tiling and has done a cracking job.

In terms of decorating- now I am being really careful with what I buy. I don’t have any money to go to independents often but I am also thinking about the materials I am using and the paint annoyingly isn’t what I want to be using but again budgets.

We haven’t had a warm shower with pressure for 18 months so we are just so happy- as you can imagine. It’s so hard being an IVF. When people say “Oh yes I know but look at the children” I don’t actually need you tell me I am blessed. I know- shocker. But I would also like to have £200 to spend on a bathroom so my husband and I don’t have to shower in the cold. It’s hardly first world problems but it is tough sometimes paying out a fuck ton on IVF credit cards and a loan. So this bathroom really is important to us.

So without further a do…

The curtain pole is actually one of our proudest DIYs. It’s a dowel in 27mm coated in Osmo oil and attached to the ceiling with Ebay bargains (ceiling curtain pole holders) or something along those lines. There’s a few options. The hooks are from HM.

The shower comes from the tap and looks so much better than most. For 88 pounds it’s AMAZING.

The curtain is HM and I added a trim using the sewing machine. Trim purchased from Ebay.

The grout paint can be found here. It was awfully boring to do as we have weird tiles with grout between the actual sections in the tile and I think they were a little porous so absorbed some of the dark paint but I actually do not care. I think it looks a lot better than it did.

The white tiles were so cheap from Topps Tiles and the grout was left over dark grey from the kitchen. Trims in white, square.

I painted the bath panel in Zinsser 123 and then topcoat of Mylands Eggshell in a pink tone.

The whole room was painted in Dulux trade brilliant white like the rest of my house now I have three small children and small budgets but it smells awful really and I ideally would use a gentle paint.

The hooks are from HM and the mesh bags are from Ikea and Berts Home Store.

The shelves aren’t exactly what I wanted. I wanted the wooden ikea brackets to tie it in but they sold out when I arrived and so one just had to suck it up with the black ones but these are much cheaper.

The CBD oil is of course from ohne.

Hope it offers some inspiration on a tight budget.
